Hi guyz, I learned from my teacher, after the word 'to', must be a root word! Can anyone explain to me, why sometime I found a lot of people still put ___ing after the word 'to'.
Thanks a lot gr8liverpoolfan! but i've found to doing, to writing ,.... for several times especially in da' salesletter! Thanks again!
to doing, to writing is wrong, to do and to write is right. ever thought that the person writing it, has poor grammer skills?
Yes, I am an English teacher. What your teacher told you is right, however, there are some exceptions, such as, I am looking forward to hearing from you soon." In order to see what the exceptions are you need to check an English grammar book. The easiest and in my opinion the best English grammar book is by Betty Azar. Don't worry there are not many exceptions. There are probably 3 or 5 or so. You just have to remember them.
Hey! Don't do like that... Thanks for you to... you've helped me too but brujj1 told me more detail... that's all! sorry samantha pia!
"with a view to doing" "looking forward to doing" These are actually readymade phrases and used like this. After "with a view to" and "looking forward to" verb+ing will be used. Hope you find it useful.
