    You need to have Google analytic's or something similar that you can see when your site was hit. then head over to seomoz and check the google update pages then google and look for advice on the certain update you where hit by. Apply changes to your site, and continue applying best practices until your site recovers.

    Dear, i think your site affected by google update. try to over come it. Do only quality work. No over optimize. Use fresh and unique quality content. Try to get quality back links and traffic.Hope your all rank will be found at previous.

    I think a lot of factor for you to know more. If you use the Google analytics, you will be know more detail, where your keyword that you mean in position?

    Might your website hit by "top heavy 2 Google update" so now change your website layout asper their update then only you will have ranking back. Wish you good luck.

    Dear...your website hit by Google Penguin Update because in april, 2012, you lost your website keywords ranking because of keywords stuffing in On Page Optimization...now we have to do quality work as gt quality backlinks and involve SMO (Social Media Optimization) for visitors traffic...my website was also hit by Penguin Update which implement in Arpil, 2012.
