    Hello all,

I am new to adwords and after signing up and putting together a list of keywords I accidently used borad match and well most of my minimum bids were .04 or .05 cents and all but one keyword was great for quality.

I realized I selected borad match and changed it to exact which is what I meant to do for some reason this change caused about 35% of my keywords to be rated OK instead of Great.

MY first question is how is it that exact match is less a quality score then broad match ?

If my keyword is 'coupon codes' and I broad match it and a surfer searches for 'xyz company 'coupon codes'' and my ad nor my landing page mentions xyz company why should this be rated great. Why am I as an advertiser expected to pay more when its an exact match and a surfer that searches exactly term 'coupon codes' isn't this obviously way more relevent ?

    My second question is this

If one has a coupon code site and the landing page has the keywords

    coupon codes
    promotional codes

    and

    promo codes

is it better to make three different ad groups within the campaign and then make ads relevent to those terms specifically?

    example

I make one ad group that has variations of all three keywords

    coupon codes
    online coupon codes
    art coupon codes
    coupon codes for portland
    etc

    and

    promotional codes
    huge promotional codes
    maoney saving promotional codes
    etc

    and

    promo code for computers
    xyz company promo codes
    the best promo codes
    etc

and make them all lead to 3 different ad variations but all in the same group.

    and

    Free Promotional Codes

or is it better to break the keywords down to different add groups like

    coupon codes
    online coupon codes
    art coupon codes
    coupon codes for portland
    etc

    and points to ad

    ?

(note I know its good to alwasy have ad variations, so lease dont get side tracked by telling me that even if i break the terms up I need more then one ad variation. My point here is that its targeting specific keywords)

Now I have been trying to find the answer things I have read state this

If an ad has a few high quality keywords its okay to have some that are lower if the overall quality is still great.

I take this to mean that If

    I ran

    coupon codes
    online coupon codes
    art coupon codes
    coupon codes for portland
    etc

in one ad group and all terms are great with a good CTR that if I add the terms in there that are rated OK for example 'online discounts'.

that if theoverall ad quality is still great itisn't doing me any damage?

If this is true and my landing page ranks "great" for terms related to "coupon codes" but "OK" for terms related to "promotional codes" then wouldn't it be better to combine them ? as long as the overall ad group was mostly ranking "great"

rather then having ne ad group that rated great and one thats rated OK ?

    TIA
