    hi all,
as the title says i have domains on yahoo small business (bad choice of host i know) one is .com and one is .org.

I would like to have them both transferred to Godaddy. Has anyone done this success fully? can you tell me how, and keep in mind im a bit of a noob in the domain game.

    thank you very much :)

I have not done so before but the typical method of transferring a domain name out of one registrar to another should be the same.

At Yahoo, just unlock the domain name and if there are any privacy settings, disable them.

At GoDaddy, initiate a domain name transfer of those domain names and pay 1 year extensions for them.

In theory, you should get an email from GoDaddy that you want to initiate the transfer which you may need to acknowledge. That should set things in motion. After which, you will get an email from Yahoo to ask for your consent to shift the domain and within 7 days, the shift should be concluded. If it fails, GoDaddy will refund you the money you paid so it is a painless process.

Technically, a domain name needs to be at a registrar for at least 3 months before they will permit it to be transferred.

If it fails, it is not all bad. All you need to do is to change the DNS server details for the domain name if you want to move web hosting providers or to change from one server to another. You should be allowed to do that at yahoo.

I did exactly what you are about to do.

Transferred successfully to Godaddy, but Yahoo has a tricky feature that process a charge even if the domain is moved away.

So go to Godaddy, begin the transfer process and after succeed, login in Yahoo and check "premium services".

The domain will remain there as if they were its registrar still, and processing a renewal charge if you don't cancel it from there.

On a side note, they are a mafia gang able to find financial information that you never provided to complete their robbery.

Well, if you own the domain name, it is yours for as long as it is registered under your name. What's important is that you get the domain name transferred out of yahoo and once that goes out, you are free to cancel all ties with Yahoo but not before that.
