Hello Friends, Being a webmaster, I interact with a lot of people via different instant messengers, like MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Gtalk etc. I am facing two problems .. First, I cannot keep record of who is who .. Is there any way I can add comments with every person I add? Second is, chat logs got erased every time I reinstall OS. I do not feel like backing up individual chat logs of every messenger .. its just too much hassle. How you guys come over these problems? I heard about Trillian, is it any good? Do it provide option to add comments to each user? And any option of 1-click backup and restore of settings/comments? Please help
Well first of all why not take down names of people you chat to? Even excel or MS word is good - write down there emails followed by the names or any contact info. I am pretty sure msn has something where you can right click and add personal information. As for the chat log problem, you may just have to note down main points of your conversations and go with that. Sorry I haven't really explored any programs that have done this for me. Hope that helped a little Good luck
Firstly... as i use yahoo messenger so i could only tell you about yahoo messenger...you can do the following. 1. to add notes with user ids ans: just right click on the user id and go to >> contact details >> switch to tab NOTES where you can write notes... 2. to save chat logs ans: go to prefrences >>> archives >> and do the setting to save chat logs hope these two ways can help you out in messenger..... thanks
You can change then names of contacts to your liking in many IM softwares including msn messenger. If you format you have to backup the chat logs...there's no get around to this, unless you save them on another hard drive or a remote location like an ftp server. I'm not sure as to how many (if any) softwares support the latter.
Yup, MSN allows you to place notes on your contacts. Right click their name > Edit Contact > Choose Notes on the left hand menu. I wouldn't really know about the others, as I only really use MSN.
