I just started a site to target for keyword phrase "x y z" and my aim is to rank no.1 in google. I got 1. domain is "xyz.info" (x y z are keyword 100% match) 2. Good content rich pages. 2. Optimised my site for that keywords. 3. Site is 98% text only 4. Got indexed in google today (within 2 days, only main page) 5. My site is not for commercial, rather to help people. When i searched "xyz" in google, looks like my site is nowhere to be found. Am i missing something? Please comment your views. I would appreciate very much.
What is the site that you really trying to rank for? Can not give info without the domain name. Or is it really xyz.info
Firstly it will take time, i dont know your keyword so dont know how competitive it is Doamin age is quite important, new domain dont rank that well, you will probably get sandboxed for a while To help you rank quick you need links and lots of them with your keyword in your anchor text, Hit directory submissions big time , see mine in my sig good luck
Yes - your competition. Don't forget, whatever you do, your competitors can do too. And if you've only just entered a market, whatever you do your competitors have already done and are more established. Something you didn't mention that would help you, though, is to get lots of links to your pages with keyphrases as anchor text.
You might get a good start up in MSN but not google especially if there are competitive words.. The most important factor in ranking now for your site is to attract high quality inbound links. Google places a significant amount of weigh on links so you might want to submit your site to directories, write articles, post your site url in forum signature or simply exchange links with other relevant sites
that is nice u got good domain, your site indexed in google today but it not sure that as u indexed u will get rank.google will take some time and there might be competetion on that keyword.if u want to check that your site is ranked or not that just write your page title and search your site will be desplayed.just wait for some time and do link exchange with related site with good PR of link page and take care that anchor text should be your targeted keyword.all the best.u will on 1st page soon.
You first have to see the competition of the keyword you are trying to target. Then see the sites coming at positions 1, 2 and 3 on Google (infact have a look at the first 10 or 20 sites) and see their page ranks. For you to be able to compete with them, you should have an average page rank of the 10 sites. Also see the number of back links they have and other such indicators which will give you a hint as to why they are ranking high. For Google, all these factors, PR, Links, Content combine to affect the rankings.
Besides patience other tips include sending a press release abd submit to article directories for backlinks
nice feedback. many people say i should wait + links needed. how long should i wait? is getting PR3 sufficient? Correct me if iam wrong, i dont think PR has anything to do with ranking. Thanks
Hmmm, I can say the minimum is 3 months, but with the keyword you gave us, maybe it has the possibility to be in #1 is less because you've got competitors like xyz.com, xyzconsulting.com, etc. Upon review, your site is far behind so it must be optimized everyday to increase the chance to top Google's SERPs. Keep doing inbound links, link exchanges, forum postings and blog submissions
olddocks, if you want to help people - ask people to place link to your new site, this will be a small step towards first place.
three factors ? 1. how competitive keyword is .. the more competitive keyword is more visits you will get and less chances of number 1 2. how many links you have ? 3. how large your unique contents are ? its not necessary to reach at number one . even if you come to first 20-30 you will see good traffic for competitive keywords .
Get links with varied anchor texts: XYZ: The site about XYZ Need XYZ? XYZ IS COOL etc (Hard to come up with these without knowing what XYZ means )
