    I like www.rootmode.com

Customer service is excellent - never had a problem in over 2 years, no affiliation just a happy customer :)

    cheers

Dreamhost is pretty good. Will be migrating there once I get my Base of Operations up and running. Presently working online from various libraries and colleges.

I'd recommend a solid VPS from a reputable company, or if your budget will allow, a low-end dedicated.
Depends if you need support, control panels etc as well.

HostGator all the way. Making a website is a long term investment. Its the best to choose a quality webhosting from the beginning. Hostgator allows me to host unlimited domains and have the best support and feature filled control panel that Ive seen. If you want to make your life easy as a webmaster - id definitely point towards Hostgator.

Hostgator is good but don't have Zend optimization and mod_rewrite available.

    Hello,

We offer True multi-domain hosting plans that give you WHM and cPanel so you can create a cPanel for each domain. Not just add-on domains.
    MOD-Rewrite is on..

    Our plans start at $6.95/m.
You just missed a 50% off sale we had for all our "M" plans but I can extend it for you.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Regards,
    Sean

What are your disk space and bandwidth requirements? There are plenty of web hosts out there, you need to find out which one is the best suitable for you.

Avoid overselling companies, I would recommend that you read http://ultracheaphosts.com/ first before making your decision.

I think I may try hostgator but still waiting for coupon or discount.... the price is expensive for a student like me to afford it, $9.95/month.
    thanks.

I use dreamhost and they had some trouble a while ago but they're fine again, unlimited domains, stuff like that, some people may try to give you a discount coupon. However, If you do want to sign up i'll give away the full 97$ coupon which means i make nothing, I just dont want ppl to try and say they are giving you a deal and not giving you the full 97 off. I dont need the money haha.

Or i hear hostgator is good like the guy above me said . search around for coupons for these companies before you sign up

    Dreamhost is the bessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssst.

You should sign up, use the code "ANIME" to get a discont heheh! 20gb 1,5tb traffic, trustable, it's really good for people that gets alot of traffic and is afraid of having bandwidth problems.

The setup fee is HIGH, but if ur sure ur gonna use for more than 1 year just buy it!

After using Lunar pages, Dreamhost and Hostgator I'd recommend hostgator.

    Good luck

    Hi Thiagoo

I prefer hostgator over dreamhost becuase I've had a few compatability problems with microsoft based servers (dreamhost and host4profit) and some scripts (specifically phpld and articledashboard - both widely used good scripts) Dreamhost is microsoft I believe.

Both offer "unlimited" sites in their package.

Comparing LunarPages and Hostgator - both are linux, both have cpanel which includes fantastico making the installation and more importantly the updating of my most common script very easy - wordpress.

The lunar pages allows a limited number of sites - hostgator is "unlimited". My sites aren't that big, but there is a growing number of them so its good for me.

Both offer excellent service & while I dont monitor uptime both seem to be pretty reliable a bit more so that dreamhost who have had a few problems in the past.

Hope this helps - its not that scientific - just an opinion formed after actually using a few hosts.

    Regards
    Brian

In DreamHost community forums there are some discussion about the requirement of faxing the CC, but it was said that it was the only way to stop fraud :/
