Brandwise, I'd prefer Canon. You can probably go on bestbuy[dot]com and look around as well. They have a ton of products with customer reviews also.

I prefer Canon. Laserjet one. Considering that I can use it longer. But if you just printing once in 2-3 days, then the inkjet will do better.

Epson - Reason is the cartridges are cheaper and substitutes are easy to get hold of.

    Regards.

    PS,

I use the Epson RX520 great printer.

If you want a printer in less than 200USD, then get an inkjet.

For low use, get an ink jet.

Realist makes the best point - it is the old razer vs. blade discussion. Over the long haul, you will spend much more on ink refills then you ever did on the printer itself. In fact, I have taken to buying cheap printers when they are on sale becuase you can often get them for less than the price of an ink refill!

Yes, for 200USD, all you'll get is a Monochrome Laserjet which only prints and does not scan.

Me I have always stuck to Epson printers, kept the original cartrudges and used compatables. If something goes wrong insert the original cartridges and away you go, fix under warrenty. If after 12, 18 months or so the printer packs up, you've saved a packet over other makes in cartridges alone and Epson are so cheap you could call them a throw away printer ;).

If your looking for a business printer for customers etc then get a colour laser.

    Regards.
