Okay I'm thinking of targeting a specific audience on my forum. I'm targeting teens (15-19, male). Now I need help making a few decisions. I'm thinking of making it a tech forum. Like computers, web dev, seo, etc. Basically anything tech related to the web and on the computer. First go over to my forum (www.whooked.com). Okay you see the Gaming forum at the bottom under off-topic? I was thinking of removing it. Would that be smart? And also the GFX forum. Is there any other forums that I should delete or add? Thanks.
I would recommend that all the meat (core and info forums) be moved to the top and all the fluffs such as announcement and chat forums moved right to the bottom. Take DP as your example.
Oh yeah. That's also every smart. Since I have about 10 seconds before visitors go away. And its better if they don't scroll down to see things. Thanks. Anything else? What about the gaming forums?
I'd say keep them as it will give those who play games something to talk about. Plus your site seems to be targeted at teens, so they usually are fond of games and even mature audiences play them so it covers them too.
Why remove the gaming forum? Doesent that age group love video games? Arent alot of tech savvy young people into video games? Get rid of the annoying popup and get the quick register mod from vbulletin.org, its doubled my registrations after I installed it, works the same as your popup but is 100% less annoying. I did actually have a popup like that for awhile and it did work pretty well lol. I dont know keep it if you want and it works well.
Okay. Yeah true. Tech people are also into gaming. I myself game too. Thanks for the tip. I'll try the quick register mod. And do you guys think I should create a gaming category and put consoles, handheld consoles and other under that. Like make the gaming section bigger?
Okay guys I need a bit more advice and suggestions. I currently provide free hosting and its post to host. Most people are joining for the hosting and free domains. Should I stop giving free hosting and domains? And just give them to really good members and donors? What do you think?
