I am looking for web hosting providers where you can pay monthly instead of paying upfront a year or two worth. I would like to try it out before making any commitments. Thanks in advance! Dan
There are a LOT of professional hosts that do not require a year, or two in advance. Not sure what kinda jokers you are dealing with??? I have heard that some will charge like that for small $9 virtual, or shared hosting.
I personally use theplanet.com, have never had any problems with them, the two times I needed tech support (due to my own stupidity) it was almost instant. I pay monthly, but do live in the US.
Lot of money in Europe; we are not used to things being so clientfriendly. Like we are used to being stuck with subscriptions per year and not being able to cancel. So phone companies and hosting companies do that still. So you would always pick hosting in the US for that right? Wrong; I rather pay 1 year at a time then getting disconnected and losing my data because of some 'phishing/spamming/whatever' complaint of my clients because all companies in the US are scared of liability. So the EU companies know that and continue with that policy
I had used Hosting.com for quite a few years before they were merged. They have some of the most reliable servers I ever tried in my life. Prices aren't cheap but they are value for money for those who wants extreme reliability.
My personal experience was great with Hostgator, support was ok. The only problem I had with them was slow servers, and sites loading slowly. Their TOS cuts you off if you use a lot of resources.
I personally use FreeHostia and you could probably choose your own desired hosting plan. Offers 1 year and six month plans. Monthly too.
what are you looking to host & how many sites? I have room on my dedicated I might be able to sort you out. check out my proxies if you want to check the speed.
You'll get a lotta offers, but I'll honestly tell ya. You can go with hostgator or bluehost as they are very reliable but remember that they will immediately suspend your site for going even close to the usage limit or stuff even by a cm. So I'll recommend you a host which is flexible and friendly, the owner is also a part of Dp and his name is aqnshosting here. Tell him I recommended you and I'm sure he will give you the best deal anyone ever can.
I know bluehost & hostgator are the most popular as per google trends or alexa rank (they limit you by MySQL a/c) But at this moment we feel WebHostingPad: http://tophost.j4u.in/out/webhostingpad-hosting-review would be best deal at $3.96 per month with all unlimited features.
Hostgator and Godaddy are giant companies, although I don't like giant companies because they oversell massively. You could check out the link in my sig.
many good vendors allow monthly payment. I even know some prefer monthly payments instead of annually. However, you will need to list your requirements first
Downtownhost - very good reviews on WHT, and not an overseller (at least not a massive one). BTW, Bluehost isn't reliable. The only reliablish overseller seems to be Hostgator Yeah, I know you can be lucky and get a good account on either Bluehost or 1&1, but it's probability that we're talking about here..
