Hi guys, I have been reading lots of posts in this forum lately (actually from yesterday) and I think I now have a better idea of how adsense works. I've decided to buy a domain/host and install wordpress for my new site but I'm currently having trouble with finding the right keyword. I thought of my niche but I have to focus on a specific keyword within my niche, right? And I guess it helps a lot when my domain name is actually the keyword I am going to focus on? I saw from one post that my keyword is gotta be something that many people search for, yet is not so competitive. How do I find one? I've been typing keywords on Google but they all seem to be too competitive. Please help. Thank you. (Just an extra question. By playing around HTML, wordpress templates, plug-ins, is it possible to make my blog look more like a website?)
use the google Adwords Keyword tool - there you can search keywords, their competitiveness, average cost per click, and other useful info.
thanks for quick replies,, but i've been using the Google Keyword Tool already.. what i don't get is whether or not I should simply go for highest competitiveness, higest cost per click keyword.. by reading posts in this forum, I was getting an impression that there are more things to consider..
If you are starting a blog, it is better to keep it a little broader and find all the sub niches in that niche to write about. For example, you can start a blog on golf ball and than find all the related sub-niches like personalized golf ball, custom golf ball etc. You cans start with Google Adwords Keyword Tool https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
oh i see.. so it is better for me to focus on a broader niche in the beginning, right? But do experienced bloggers do otherwise? just wondering about the phrase "if you are starting a blog" thanks,
You can take care of several blogs simultaneously. I think you can choose one or two subjects you like or be expert and one or two subjects you believe that can earn money. Write during two or four monthes and you'll know which blogs are better ( $$$ ) than others. So you can quit some of them and keep writing only in one or two, if you prefer.
You should go with niche about what you expert at.. In my opinion, you should start with medium competitive keywords, after you expert at it, then you should go with high competitive keywords.
