I was running a proxy site on one of fellow DPer's servers. He suspended my site last night since it was using a lot of his server resources.

Now I have to get myself a VPS hosting for my proxy. I currently run just 1 proxy, but plan to build a network of 5 soon. I'm not richie rich to buy a $200/mo hosting right now. I can spend upto $50-$60 per month on hosting initially.

Please let me know good cheap VPSes. The guy suggested me modvps.com. I've heard that servint.com's VPS is the best. Any replies appreciated greatly and all replies will receive rep. I need urgent help :(.

    Regards,
    Nithanth

I like vpslink.com service ... go with Link-4 and you will see how it goes ... just remember that they don't offer burst ram....

Proxy site's are CPU intensive and aren't really suitable for shared environments because they slow down everyone else sites at the same time. So, the best option for you is to opt for a dedicated server.

i would recomend a VPS from servint.net, you would have to read their TOS first tho as i am not sure if they allow proxies.

In addition, not all the VPS providers allow you to run public proxy services. If you go for one be careful reading the TOS.

Dedi box is good IMO...$50 can buy entry level unmanaged boxes.

Dont go with servint...they have low CPU usage allocations.

    But Servint allows Proxy.

Even if you get a dedicated server, check with their TOS if Proxy is permitted.

The datacenter I am using do not allow Proxy because they told me that it sort of attract a lot of undesirable traffic.
