Hi, I have been trying out many methods but was not successful in getting traffic. Is paid advertising the ultimate thing which gives traffic?

Or could anyone suggest me some good ways of getting consistant traffic? I mean digg and stumbleupon gives temporary traffic. I need consistant traffic, so for that could any one provide information?

Please be specific with site because even I know like article writing, participating in forums. But please give me sites which give good traffic?

    Hi,

If you are getting temporary traffic with few repeats, you are either having trouble getting to your target audience, or your content is not unique enough. Visitors have very little time in their lives, and you have to have something really special to get them to return. If you think your content is really unique and valuable, then ads may help.

Hey there mate, i dont think you need to pay for advertising at all ok generally with the right paid advertising the impacts are much quicker, however they might not last and sometimes send rubbish traffic that are not interested in your website.
Have a look on this website which has many tutorials on gathering traffic.

    http://www.back-links.org

Depending what your website's niche is yahoo answers is rather good.

well first how old is your site. Im assuming its already indexed in the search engines. Is the content optimized for search engine traffic? Dont forget social networking sites other than forums. If you need a little help you can always try to dabble in the paid advertising methods like Google adwords. I guess also, post your site as well to let us take a look and give you suggestions.

You should try some link exchanging with people in the forums...
Other than that, I would say you need to treat the people on the internet like an ADD kid...unless you have something Special...something so unique that it will keep them on the page...then youre probably not going to get a whole lot of residual traffic...

okay... here's couple of things one must take into account.

First of all GOOD traffic doesn't necessarily mean LOTS of traffic. In fact... you can do quite well with LITTLE traffic... if it's GOOD traffic. By good I mean "very targeted traffic".

    Here's an example:
If you have a site that sells blue shoes, and it gets ten million visitors who are after free beer - it does little good for you. On the other hand... even with a handful of shoeless people whose favourite color is blue, you can earn some pretty nice $$$.

The key here is to bring the kind of traffic that is interested in what you offer.

And this leads me to another thing: it depends on your website. If you have a site about web 2.0 ... then getting featured in techcrunch.com would be nice - commenting on their blog & and participating in tech discussions.

Here's couple of good starting points for ideas on getting traffic:
How my site traffic went over ten thousand monthly visitors
And how it went even higher

For "constant traffic": create a site that people enjoy, where they can contribute and where they enjoy visiting. They will come back later for sure.
