ok I am really pissed I was trying to transfer some domains to my godaddy account and this is what I get from ipower

    http://ipowerweb.com/company/legal/ipw_transferagreement_2005jul.pdf

some bull shxx agreement that says I have to pay a transfer fee of $25 on each domain.

Yet what I do not understand is I thought I own the domain they need a fee to accept the transfer from godaddy?

What can I do about this because they said it also takes like some odd amount of time 10-14 days of processing.

Are they allowed to do all this?

They are allowed to do anything as long as you have your domain registered with them.

It looks like that agreement deals with the transfer of both a domain name and a hosting account.

Did you get both at the same time from ipower?

Anyway, this appears to be the relevant agreement for domain registrations through ipower:
    http://www.ipower.com/legal_domain.html

    100% untrue. Thanks for playing.

Since you agreed when you joined them of course they're allowed to charge what you already agreed

Consider the $25 a lesson to check the registrars before you order a domain
This is how many companies make money. Cheap Registration, High fee for renewal/transfer

Of course normal domain companies don't charge for transfer. Usually it's free

How did you request for transfer ?

You go to the new registrar and request transfer
You get some emails from registrars regarding the authenticity of this request and you're done

You don't notify anyone. New registrar notifies the old one and after the verification of this request the new registrar takes over.

Check if there is a problem with the name of any kind or go to another registrar

... is that YOU SHOULD NEVER REGISTER DOMAIN FROM YOUR WEB HOSTING PROVIDER .. no matter what .. even if it's free.. if something gets screwed up, and you don't want to be with this hosting provider any more .. you can't get out .. or they charge you some crazy money to get your own domain ...

This is perfect example of what I'm warning you about .. One wise englishman used to say -- I'm not so ritch to buy cheap stuff .. in this case you save $8 (for domain registration) and you got f* with $25 transfer fee..

    Cheers to all,

    Venetsian.

no it was to change ownership lol they just sent the wrong information. I think they were just using an automated tool to send me back messeges.

Transfer is no fee but to change owner ship apparently it costs $25
