If I am creating a link building campaign should my preference be for one way links ? If I go for reciprocal links I think most webmasters who have sites similar to mine would probably be more likely to carry my link if I offer to carry one of their links. But in order to get a reasonable number of links then it would mean my own links page being overloaded with outgoing links. Should I therfore go for 20-30 links only or try to go for more ?
try for one-way links from related pages. article marketing is best for this. setting up a few reciprocal links does nobody any harm and helps to build community and relationships. so in short, aim for both
Stick to getting as many one way links as you can if you use reciprocal links don't hurt your site, they just add value to somebody else's.
If you can get one way links, that is the best. Google also likes one way links and discourages reciprocal links. If you are going for reciprocal links you should go for quadrangular link exchange, means your site A links to others site C and other site D links to your site B.
there are so many ways of getting one way free links, why in the world you would go for link exchanges that require fair bit of time doing and managing? besides, link exchanges dont work the way it used to work few years back. better stick with one way links
The only way to even consider doing reciprocals imo is highly relevant, pr at least what your site is and even then you have to check on the site regularly, and I mean regularly to see that the link from them is still up. That plus Google's "devaluation" of or downright insistence that these reciprocal links are about trying to manipulate the serps is enough to make them a small or non existant part of a linking strategy. I know some of you like reciprocal links but my experience is that fully 80% plus of the sites that once were reciprocal link partners have removed their links to my site without notice and a few came up with the three way link that had me linking to their site and some chicken poot site linking to mine. Sorry did I say chicken poot I meant to say chicken s#@t site. I was angry at the time but I have gotten over it, can you tell?
OK! I am all over and convinced that one way is best. Now, how many and how fast is a question worth thinking about. Google doesn't like spam of anything. OR DO THEY REALLY CARE?
I think that both are good, don't go over 50 outgoing links per page or google may consider you a link farm. In fact I never go over 25 which has led to alot of link pages. I just make sure they all aim back to my index with keywords in the text. I think I may also place articles within these pages so they don't only have links on the pages I have alot of old blog posts and articles that have been published that I could use. Anyway I have seen good rankings from both
