I am 23yrs old and really interested in computers, web design, building databases, web marketing, and everything else in this field. What is a good major for me to pick that would actually teach me just about everything in those fields? Or to everyone that is highly successful with their websites, what did you guys major in? Thanks for any input or info
the majority of webmasters I know never finished college and just learned everything from doing it themselves.....if you like design, you can always go into computer science with emphasis on graphic design?
I think you'll find a lot of people here didn't major in a web related field but learned it as they went. That being said my favorite major is Major Payne.
I will advice you to choose your major seriously as keeping web work apart, you want it to something on which you can build your carreer if web related work don't get you off. Database and datamining is one hot field. The other is embedded systems.
You're out of your mind, son. Major Payne was one of the greatest movies of 1995 - IMO. Major Payne: Maybe what he need is for you to pop your titty out his mouth and let the boy grow up. Emily: Excuse me, what did you say? Major Payne: I didn't stutter, I said pop-your-titty-out-his-mouth AND STOP BABYING HIM. Emily: I don't call it babying, I call it nurturing. Major Payne: And I call it neutering. Emily: And I call you an insecure, overbearing, psychopathic, edictorial, ego maniacal, frigid lunatic ASSHOLE! Major Payne: I ain't frigid.
I also loved major payne. But back to the subject I think you should do what I did. Pay $125 for a fake degree.
Yeah I have to go with Rob on this one. Maybe you just don't know good movies, because you were watching crappy a bunch of crappy TV series. (probably love Step by Step, too) One tubby tubby. Two chubby chubby.
My advice is that if you're going to go to college major in something that will allow you to better build your business, not go out and be a pawn for some large corporation. I'm going back to college this year, and I'm majoring in some type of business/economics major. Why? Because once I master finance, I can have all the webmasters, programmers, scientists, and other professionals work under me once I've built a large base. My advice is to master money and the acquisition of it. Once you've done that, everything else will fall into place. Most webmasters here at DP are Autodidacts, which means they are self taught.
Speaking generally, I'd recommend computer science; along the way, take a few business and graphics courses.
Do any colleges offer degrees in web design or seo? (Real schools, that is. Not the university of wacko, or phoenix university.)
