    Hello,
I have purchased a dedicated server in europe, and I am getting terrible download speeds. I asked some of my friends and about half of them had this problem as well, while others were getting normal download speeds. Can a few people please tell me their download speeds for the following files:
    - http://servainet.com/testfile.compressed.90meg - this is a test file from the same company (I get speeds of around 500KB/s when downloading this file)
    - http://www.dipsh1t.com/testfile.bin - this is the server I purchased. All it has on it is virtualmin (control panel) and the test file. (I get speeds of around 20KB/s when downloading this file)

Also, what is weird is that I get the same normal upload speeds for both servers (around 80KB/s)

If anyone can please help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.

PS. The host has been very helpful in trying to resolve this problem (changed network cards, reloaded, installed various control panels, tested, etc) but nothing has worked to resolve this problem so far.

The second link is a bit slower, but both seems still good to me. You can ask your friends to make traceroute from their computers to server, also, you can do traceroute from server to their IPs, to find out where is the bottle neck.

Well, I have no idea how to read a traceroute to determine the problem, but I ssh'ed into the server and ran traceroute:
Also, here is a traceroute from me to the server:
    Does this tell you anything?

Have you tried to reboot your dsl modem? It has very high response time.

Awesome, thanks for reminding me about the modem.
I heard somewhere that carpeting and electrical equipment can cause interference, so I moved it and then rebooted it. Problem solved.

But, how could this have affected only that server and not the other one?
