But I have to CHMOD 777 some folders and have no clue how to do it at GoDaddy, if it can be done at all. Isearched the forum and found nothing my wee brain could understand.

Can it be done and if so please explain in a way my 9 year old will understand.

    Thanks

you don't need a ip address for FTP, just domain name, username and password

Is this a dedicated server ? If so you can login via SU and reset the permissions this method. If not call godaddy.com up and advise the issue. I'm certain that someone will help you if it's a shared server. Give it up if it's a dedicated server you won't get much help from them! There is limited support on most dedicated servers and thats with most data centers.

open up command prompt if you're on windows & type ping yourdomain.com. The IP that you get a reply from is usually what you need:)

You can probably do it within your host's control/file manager, or using an FTP client. (FTP is the easiest) :D

Yes but it's SLOW as molasses. I'd much rather use smartftp. EVEN with the annoying nag screens.

With Windows you cannot chmod, i do not believe. If you are running windows you cant, if you have linux you can chmod.

Yes that is exactly what I mean if windows allowed files to be chmodded it would be a vulnerability in the os.
