Hi guys im here to ask for your help. i have a classified ads site www.postfreeads.org i want the pages become search engine friendly.. Please help. If you can help me. I will link your site in our pr5 link directory site wide.. Please..
I wanted to do this to change my URLS from dynamic to static on one of my sites. When I looked into a bit more it was way past my means and I hate the thought of tinkering with a site which is actually live, with many visitors + members each day! I outsourced the work using getafreelancer.com - its best to leave certain things to the professionals!
not all can be done by mod_rewrite in your case - example categories - Automobiles you may research indepth your SW configuration potential SE friendly URLs start with the software CREATING/displaying SE friendly URLs such as yoursite.com/Automobiles/fille.htm in worst of all cases you may have to consider a change of SW to do the same job if you research all SW available doing same job, you may find one to provide SE friendly category-URLs the final part then might be done by mod_rewrite to get clean file extensions for each post/article first look at all possible config options of current SW no idea WHO offers/maintains your site's SW BUT when i checked the MyClassifiedsSite.com was down and I found no instant other site/SW info make sure you use SW of an active and well maintained project that assures high server security by permanent active development. a classified site where members can upload files or pics is prone to hackers' abuse - hence site security NEEDS to be well applied.
Hi Hans thank you for replying to my message. First of all. What is SW you are talking about. Sorry for my ignorance. But im still a newbie in this field..
for a classified ad site there are certainly more than one software (SW) package available to do the same job. some may offer built in SE friendly features others NOT. some may have built in mod_rewrite modules others NOT for example may photo gallery SW has such built in features that just need to be configured for SE friendly URLs. many modern CMS SW does so. he4nce what you may need is first of all read aboiut th efull potential of your current classified ad SW to see if you have such SE friendly features available OR else look on the OS (open source ) market to find other SW that does same as your current package used. you may also look at http://www.hotscripts.com/ or http://php.resourceindex.com/ for suitable SW in case your current classified SW has no SE friendly features since you just start from scratch with your classified site it still is time to change if needed. make sure you select a SW that is security conscious and maintained / updated regularly. avoid death projects.
I heard geoclassifieds enterprise script has a SEF url feature like /category/item200.htm (your site shows "geoclassifieds enterprise demo" in header) No sure though...have you checked out the settings in the admin panel ?
