I use phpLD (the free version) and I am very pleased with it. One of the easiest scripts to modify the theme for, good hack database (Some paid, but there are some good free ones too).

Thats an interesting point dojo, easy for who? a programmer maybe but a normal Joe Bloggs no way. I'd be interested to know how and why you think phpld is easy to code? I spent quite a bit of time looking at this as I hate giving answers I can't back up and while there certainly are some free mods, most of them you have to pay for and or then pay some extra to install if you haven't a clue about coding which most people dont. :)

The Pheonix, you're right. i've been spending abit of time looking at alot of scripts, phplynx and indexu are my favourite so far. There is also a good French open source directory script which i like too. So if i decide to buy, it'll be those 2. I'm working on a business directory using Joomla atm, i've been using Joomla for awhile now on alot of websites.

If phplynx wasn't encoded i would have bought it by now. But anyway its a solid looking script. Maybe the best free one out there. it just need more templates to go with it

Thanks Wengchung, I took my time looking at the scripts out there, the fors and the against, they all have some. The coding bit of phpLynx I ignored as it makes the script far more secure. Have to agree on the templates but that is sure to come just like it did with phpld and the others.

@abhishekdaaga; I keep hearing this phpld free is the best but none of you back this up with hard facts like a feature comparison? Yep I do have the phpLynx script in my sig, was also asked to put other links there but am considering this,. my posts my sigs my choice, just like you got. ;)
