Help me increase CTR!

I'm looking for suggestions to improve the CTR on this site:

    www.TheSEOKing.com

Maybe I've got Adsense blocks in the wrong location, maybe they don't stand out, I don't know. Any help would be appreciated!

My current CTR is a dismal 0.2%...

I think my problem may be more related to how/where the ads are placed on the pages... I've got most of the site in the Google index (166 pages), a whole bunch of backlinks, etc. But out of 5000 ad impressions I've only got 10 clicks, that seems very low to me.

I have heard that using the adlinks and/or the square med rec seems to work great when placed correctly. Need to try different locations and/or color/font to see.

You might try to cram that site a bit more. But if you have nothing to fill up all those giant empty spaces, I'd suggest making your site smaller (800x600) and center it, so that your Adsense ads fit in better with your content -- i.e. mesh it. Right now they stand out a little too much and are too obviously ads.

Yer ads are in the traditional "banner" slot-- pretty good chance of ad blindness there.

I'd move them into to body area of your site ASAP.

Have you checked out Google's Heat Map?

Yeah you should definitely check out Google's heatmap. The topright corner and the footer are among the worst places to have ads if you're looking for clicks. The SEO news block looks like a nice spot to place ads, but I would move it more to the left. Also try Adlinks.

Ok, I've made some changes. And I found a few coding bugs while I was in there, so I fixed a bunch of stuff, too.

I got rid of Adsense box in the top right, centered the logo on the top.

I added an Adsense box under the menu bar.

I pushed the SEO News block down and put a medium rectangle on top of it. And I tried to fill in some of the dead space.

Now I'm worried that I have too many Adsense blocks.

Should I change the colors so the ads stand out?

Should I put the SEO News on it's own page or leave it so each page has fresh content each time it loads?

you have to wait and assess the changes you made so far...for at least a few days worth of traffic.

Yep-- depending on your traffic, you should wait a few days-- or a few weeks.

ANY change is going to see a short spike in clickthru... Data analysis and controlled experimenting is the key the success!

Thanks, but any comments on the updated layout? Too much Adsense? Too much white space? Not enough?
