    Hello,

I always hate being someone to just stick out their hand and ask for handouts as typically I do everything on my own..

But I really require help of fellow DP users.

    CTR on my ad placements:

    top - .16%
    sidebar - 0.20%

I've tried what I know but doesn't seem to help.

Hmm, my first thought is to look at the nature of your traffic. What is your average number of pages / visit? And what is your bounce rate?

If you have a very high bounce rate and a low number of pages / visit, this would explain the low click rate on ads. This would mean that users are not clicking your ads because they're not clicking anything on the site, they're just closing out of the site, in which case you could focus on some combination of improving your site so it makes a better impression, and perhaps reaching a better audience that would be more interested in your site.

If, on the other hand, the users are actually reading and exploring your site (high pages / visit, low bounce rate), then it's another issue. In that case I might changing your layout or ad placement, or colors of the text ads, or what material surrounds the ads on the site.

One thing that popped into my mind is that the color scheme, gray-on-gray, does not make the site very readable to me. I find video game themed sites often have dark backgrounds, so there's nothing wrong with that, but you might want to lighten the text color and/or darken the background to make more contrast. This may also help ad relevance because google definitely weights the relative importance of text based on its readability. Smaller text and text with less visual contrast is often given less weight. So you may be sending the message to google "this content is less important". I did notice that in my case, the ads served were very generic and had very little relevance or connection to the content on your site...but that could just be the ads that were displayed to me.

    Good luck!

    Hello,

Thank you very much for the suggestions.

The layout that is on there now is currently a new one and I have been trying to get reviews on it with minimal help from my community.

The bounce rate on my site is very high (around 90%) and I get around 4,000+ users /day and around 5,000 page loads but all the content is unique and written daily so I am really stumped on how to fix that and the ads now shown to me also appear to be very bland and untargeted and do you have any ideas on how I could fix that issue? As before it used to show video game related ads.

Do you think white text would be the best?

Generally, news site has lower ctr. I don't know why. I have this experience too. Anyone got the same situation? I add "text" google adsense, just below the menu and post title, increase ctr significantly. But, as they are "text" adsense, cpm is low.

Ads are badly placed, not color optimized and located on a messy website.

I'm also not sure if you're allowed to use 2leep anymore.

Well, if you were not such a lazy person you would have googled on the info I provided
and found how to do it correctly.

AdSense is one of the most discussed ad-network on this planet, I'm sure
you won't have any problems finding info about it without asking in forums.

    Let me help you out.
Here's a small summary of things you can do to earn more with adsense:
    http://www.xmakemoneyonline.com/make-money-online-with-adsense/

    Focus on:
    Ad placement (learn the heatmap)
ad color (what and why do people click the links)
Website layout (is the layout distracting users attention)

We get hundreds of people like you asking the same questions all the time.
And to this forum your question is as useful as a dead cat as well.

You didn't even explain what you have tried, you just said:
"I've tried what I know but doesn't seem to help."

How are we going to help you if we don't know what you have already tried.
Do you want us to write a 5000 word article explaining the ins and outs of AdSense to every person asking?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just want you to know that the easiest way to learn is
to search for the information yourself.
