Hello Guys, I have a website which is called: www.iphone5news.us It doesn't get loads of traffic, but it has some hundred of unique visitors per day, all of them coming from search engines. The problem is that it only gets 1-2 clicks per day. For the amount of traffic it gets, i would expect somewhere around 10 clicks per day. Please helm me improve the number of clicks. Right now i use a premium magazine theme, but if you can recommend a better template for the site, i may change it. Thank you very much!
You need to increase traffic firstly. Getting 10 clicks from 100 users is unlikely, 10 from 1000 would be more likely Also play with the add placement. I find adding the ads to the left rather then right get more clicks.
Ad placement is key. Google "Optimal Ad placement" to get the official recommendation from the adsense team about ad placements. Also you are using picture ads... consider using Text Only Ads.. they are proven to provide better CTRs.
Hey guys: Till now i have changed the in-text ads from left to right, and have changed the sidebar banner from img only to text only. Quite unsure about the header banner. Would like to hear other opinions as well!
I have seen a good template for ctr, it's called ctrtheme (can search for it online) but they ask you to pay, so you can either buy it or just look at the video and see the ad placements, then try to do the same on your own free template, up to you!
I would suggest you to have a look at the Adsense Heatmap. http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=17954
Hey JamesColin, I already own that theme, but i think it is not very appropriate for magazine-style websites, that is why it won't help me now.
The heatmap is useful but it is generic and doesn't always work. I'd rather ask real people (like you ) for an opinion, than follow an image Some more editions have been done. Please advise.
Well, one has to make a choice. If you want the best ad placement for a magazine style website then the CTR will be less. I think the ctrtheme can fit any purpose really, google doesn't look at the style, only interested in the content. If your content is fine, then the visitors will come and can work their way and read your text. Just adopt an original approach to the magazine format, and put everything which is usually at the top, at the bottom of the site. Simple, but if you want to stick to the standards, then study big magazine layout and do the same for yours, but your CTR will be less for sure, the big magazines enjoy CPM ads, you don't.
I suggest that the inner page advertisement( 300x250px) should use a different colour. You should make it more visible. It's best not to trick visitors clicking on your ads because the bounce rate would be high thus the quality of the click would be low which means you could get smart priced.
It's a learning process, I would suggest compare to some good formed websites and do the same on your own site.
To improve your CTR you can use text ads instead of image ads because text ads will show more relevant ads in context of your content on the page which will in turn improve the CTR but I'm not sure if that will also increase the income.
hi, Post Adsense ads on text rich pages and make sure that Adsense had a bunch of keywords to work with. Getting Higher paying keywords is better of course. Get rid of public service ads, which pay you nothing for your efforts.
So far after testing so many ad placements, the one that's performing well is below the post title. But i set it up so that the ads wont show on the homepage. search Google - "Scolex Portal" it's the name of the blog.
Yeah thats so true! Also you can change the template and have the adsense in area where actually user would look first too, from the design before!
