I think we have done the best we could in trying to get our site listed really high in search results, but nothing is working.

http://www.modders-inc.com has been up and running for about 6 months now. We have a PR of 5 and ranked 67,xxx in Alexa. I have been editing and trying to make sure keywords are in the text, images and what not, but I still have a ways to go. Can you take a quick look and see if I have messed something up or give suggestion. Some how I think we are in the famous "Sandbox" and well it is starting to stick being there..lol

You're there for 2 reasons...but one is DEFINITELY outweighing the other.

    - Your site isn't that old. Domain purchased in March '06.

    But more importantly...

    - A MAJORITY of your backlinks are with the anchor text - "Modders-Inc". I'm sure if you do a search for MODDERS-INC in Google, you'll be numero uno. You need to get links with the anchor text "Case Mods" or whatever keywords your going after. You probably would be out of the Sandbox by now if you'd done that in the first place. I've got sites outta the Sandbox between 4-12 months.

Also, try to be creative with your backlinks. Put the link in the description rather than just the title if possible.

Sorry but are you talking about links we have on the site that link to other areas or links from other sites to our site?

I looked it up...so I need to get the other website to use case mods in the link back to us? Hmmm I can't control the way they write their links, or can I?

BTW...thanks for the info, no other forum has giving me so much info to work with.

Oh please, let's not start this. Yes, there is a sandbox. Ranking for "low hanging fruit" is not a sign of being in the sandbox. I get tons of traffic from low hanging fruit when I launch a new site, but it's the "money" keywords you won't rank for. Link age and domain age play a key in beating the sandbox.

Yes, I'm talking about links GOING to your site from OTHER sites. Yes, you can control how people are linking to you, to an extent. Of course, the website owner is always going to put what they want, but you can ask to change the text to "Case Mods" or when asking to exchange links, just make sure they use Case Mods intead of "Modders-Inc". You'll start to get some good rankings in no time...you should need to have the right anchor text.

I agree, if it's not too difficult to email all your existing link partners, I'd send a quick email to request a modification to your anchor text. The search engines should pick that up. Also, I always recommend, look at the other sites which are ahead of you in ranking and try to figure out why they are there and you're farther down. I sometimes find things they are doing that I"m not and then I try to "one up" that website.

Been there...done that...I know I have done more that most of those sites...
I have done the keyword counts, hits, and so forth. I guess it becuase we are new is why we are getting the short end of the stick.

There is one site that I help build up and it has since pretty much fallen off the face of the earth, yet it is still getting ranked #2 on a search for case mods. I believe that it is living off all the hard work that all the old staff memebers did.

You're asking for advice, then your saying you know it all. Dude, take the advice we're giving. If you knew what you were doing, you wouldn't be here asking people who actually know.

I did not say that I "know it all" I was just stating what I have been trying to do or have done to better the site.

I am taking every ounce of the advice everyone has been giving and trying to use it to help our site. I thank everyone for the help!
