Help me Clarify the competitve ads TOS

Hi - I am trying to get to the bottom of the competitive ads TOS as the intsructions in Adsense are confusing.

The "programme policies" section says :-

"We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web PAGES that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services".

    The "help" section says:-

"Cannot add to SITES displaying AdSense"

    is it "sites" or "pages"?

I carry Adsense on about 70% of my pages but want to add OMG Ads to 2 or 3 of the pages where the Adsense Ads are not really very good.

I hope that's clear and that someone can clarify this for me?

    Thanks in advance
    Andy

I'd say go by the actual wording in the terms of service. That is what you're contractually obliged to compy with. On a more practical note, why don't you email the Adsense support team and ask them?

Hi Exam and thanks for the reply.

I have emailed them but I am working on my site right now and was rather hoping someone could tell me today is they were sure they knew the right answer.

Sorry to sound dim - but "which" bit is the TOS? Is it the "programme policies" page? if not can you show me a url for it?

I read it when I signed up but can't find a specific TOS page to check it.

    Thanks in anticipation
    Andy

If it is a contextual ad program, like adsense, do not put on your site.
    Yahoo ads, nope.

Having just read the TOS it appears that its by "page" providing I deselect the "Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up" whcih I have now done.

If I opt into the Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up then I can ONLY show Google Adsense Ads throughout the entire site.

I am assuming (and PLEASE correct me if you know better) that I can now add other ads to the site providing I don't show Adsense Ads on the same page.

I was posting while you did so I didnt see your post before my last.

With the greatest of respect this rather goes to show that people shouldn't post "definitives" unless they are sure about what they are saying.

The TOS seems pretty clear (and this has now been confirmed by google) that is is fine to add other contextual ads to a site that contains adsense ads so long as they dont appear on the same "page"

I'm rather new to all this and making the bets possible steps to ensure I do things right - but I think its important that you onoy make statements that you KNOW to be true - and if you are just "guessing" or stating an "opinion" that you make it clear that is the case.

I hope that doesnt sounds rather harsh for a "newbie" here but I felt I needed to say this.

Sorry, I should have said page!
But still you have to be careful of what ads you put on a PAGE that has adsense.
ANd you might be a newbie, but I have read the TOS,

Anyways, since you really don't want help, I am out of this thread.

That my point - I DID want help but I see so many "you definitely can't do this posts" in here which are then followed by "actually google just emailed me and said its OK".

I just think that people should make it clear if they are posting an "opinion" or a "definitive!

Oh and for anyone interested you CAN have Yahoo Ads and Google Ads on the same site but NOT on the same page.

In addition you CANNOT add Yahoo (or other contextuals) to other pages unless you have opted OUT of the "Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up". If you have opted IN to this scheme (check as you may have defaulted to being IN) then you have agreed to ONLY show Google Ads throughout the site irrespective of whether you only show one set of ads per page.
