I know this has been asked before, but I've had a good scout and can't find it.

I'm making a site about Blue Widgets, and these are the domains available.

    blue-widgets.com
    bluewidgets.net
    bluewidgets.info

    Which should I go for?

It depends on the actual keywords and if there is any kind of trademark that bluewidgets.com has. I would also check the traffic and content that bluewidgets.com has. If you can produce a better site and get more links to your site, you might give them a run for their money, but if their site is really doing well, you might try a three word domain like coolbluewidgets.com.

If their site is pretty low-key, go for the .net one. Maybe you can buy them out later.

    All 3.
    You might also pop for
    xbluewidgets.com
    ibluewidgets.com
    ebluewidgets.com
etc if they sound good and are rememberable.

Choose either blue-widgets.com or bluewidgets.net and redirect the others to it with a 301. Whichever one you choose as a main site, play up the dash or the .net so your users will remember it.

I'd also go for all three. Domains are pretty cheap nowadays.

Buy all 3 domains with godaddy, you'll get privacy for FREE + plus use some couponcodes to get discount.

Other Ideas: You can also remove the "S" on the end. Or the "E" in Blue.

Id consider both the .com and .net...I probably wouldnt worry about the info so much.

Keep in mind also that search engines place a LOT of weight on the domain name...People underestimate just how much weight...and pay too little for second class domains in my view, just so they can get it cheap. Sometimes spending a couple hundred on a really good domain is worth the money long term and can give you an immediate one up in the SERP's. Sedo is your friend.
