It's hard to prosecute any one for online scamming unless they originated in the US. You'll need to find out more information about this guy before anything happends.
Well, I know prosecuting him wouldn't work unless he's in the US. I can, however, file complaints with his ISP, or whatever other online services he uses. There's always something you can do, even if you can't throw the idiot in jail.
listen, 1. you din't get scammed so whats the point of pursing it any further (your not gonna get anything out of this i guarantee it). 2. Your posting a webmaster forum if you really gonna cry about something like this go to a scamming reporting forum or something so at least maybe you will meet up with some people who also had the same problem and you could meet some new friends or something. 3. Your seriously wasting your time and im trying to save you from wasting your time. You should be thanking me for telling you ahead of time theres nothing you can do about it. period.
True it's a waste of time for him, but hey, if we don't do anything about these type of scammers we only let them flourish. Still...what are you going to do to some guy in Nigeria all the way from the UK or US?
1. Don't be so selfish. If I can get this moron banned from his ISP for fraud, or some other online service that he uses, it's worth it. How does he get on the internet? Osmosis? 2. There are over 30,000 posts on this forum, which means a lot of people come here. That's good enough to get visibility. I don't care if you think this is the wrong place for this post. It's a general forum. Grow up and keep your opinion to yourself like a big boy. 3. So I'm going to thank you for " Let me put it this way since you din't like the nice way of telling you..." or "nobody cares"? You have issues, kid. I didn't ask for idiot comments like yours. I asked for serious feedback, which some people have given. No, you didn't come here to "help". That's obvious. You came to troll. Apparently you don't have anything intelligent to say, so I'll ask you a second time, stop posting.
Just be thankful you didn't get scammed. There isn't much you can do if he is in Nigeria. It will be hard to track him down as most people in Nigeria browse the internet via an internet cafe.
I wonder if any of you could help me get an IP address here in australia. I have just been scammed for about $800 and I know the police officers wont help much about this but unfortunately I am sooo dumb when it comes to technology that I really dont know where to seek for help anymore.
Contact him from another email and pretend that you are selling something and then you will get his address
Lets say nothing happen, but true, we have to do something about it. teach a guy a lesson. There are a lot of scammer out there because only few of us know how scam works. It's about scam awareness. Thanks for sharing this kind of scam.
I agree with OP, I would go after him so he doesn't scam someone that isn't as savvy as myself. I always waste those guys time. I reply back with tell me more and I get in a whole dialogue with them, I do it at work so I am getting paid to do it. lol. Once I get the address and as much info as I can I send it to the proper authorities that handle online fraud. I say good job and I hope you find the info, just don't make it your life mission...
I think he's just trying to help, because you really can't do anything. Especially because you lost nothing.
