I am gonna buy a guitar and start learning it.. Should I buy acoustic guitar or electric also what company do you guys prefer..
It depends on what sort of music you like. Personally, I think you should go for a cheap electric, and get a cheap (but decent) practice amp with a headphone output, or even a POD - I've got an old POD 2.0 and I love it. At least then you can play at any time of day or nite, and not annoy your family or neighbours. If you're just learning, then don't bother getting a Fender or a Gibson - just get something cheap. If you end up hating playing guitar, then a $100 guitar will sound as good as a $1500 guitar when it's in your closet. And if you LOVE playing, then you'll be able to save up and buy something nice.
I started out playing on an acoustic, and you should as well. An acoustic will toughen your fingers, and you're gonna need alot of that. After you've gotten some chords down on the acoustic and you see that you are advancing, then you can buy an electric and it will play like a piece of cake. Takamine makes amazing acoustic guitars. They have a well made (and well sounding) entry level acoustic called the "Jasmine". I still pick this guitar up and play it all the time and I been playing for years. It costs only $99 at Musician's Friend. But you're in India. So you'll have to search your local music stores of find someone on ebay that ships internationally
The only thing about getting an acoustic, is that it's very easy to get bored with it when you're learning. When I first started playing (eeek ... 20 years ago), I very nearly gave up simply because I couldn't get an acoustic to sound 'cool' - keep in mind, I was only 13. As soon as I got my first electric, this all changed, and I was hooked. @ touchAshley - those Jasmines look nice, especially the price I didn't know Takamine had a 'little brother' brand. I'll have to check them out. I've always wanted a Takamine.
You HAVE to start on an acoustic. If you take off on an electric you won't be able to play your scales and stuff properly on an acoustic...... If your in India try to get a GBA ( or any 100-150$ guitar ) for 2-3 months and then move on to a high range one..... and then after a year and a half go for a good electric
I guess it all depends on the person and what interests them. When I first started playing guitar, I had no interest in the electric guitar. All I ever wanted was to be able to strum away on some of my favorite acoustic songs by artists such as Edwin Mccain. Then later on after I had learned some stuff on the acoustic, I saw stevie ray vaughan perform. After seeing him and being introduced to the blues and other electric blues players, I had to have an electric guitar, and I had to learn how to play the blues like that. So it all comes down to what you want to play right now. Maybe he wants to play some Indian music?
Start from Acoustic Guitar first then go with electric, Currently I have GB&A Guitar, I guess you should use them too, they are very good..!
