Well So far I got this :

    • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
    • CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
    • Rosewill RD600N-2DC-SL-SLV 600W ATX Form Factor 12V V2.2 / SSI standard EPS 12V Active PFC Power Supply - SLI Ready

This is what I got so far for my computer build. I am going to be building a computer after like 5 or 6 years. I brushing up on my memory how to do this so just to make sure from you more experienced people is this all compatable and will it work? And is there anything I'm missing? Anything else you want to add? Any feedback will be appreciated!

:D well from my experience, just google the hardware you selected to see which have the least problem. there's no point in buying something that have a lot of people screaming about support or problem. to me less complaint is better. just search "'model no' problem forum" at google. this is the method i use.

last month i build a new pc using asus m3a motherboard and amd phenom quad processor, the others you can change based on your budget.

use sony dvd-rw, pioneer sux. with sony it can even manage to read the dvd/cd than failed on 3 other different brand that i've tested. but it generates quite a lot of heat so prepare a higher than average power supply for it.

i got a western digital HD 500G for ~240 last month

Everything looks fine! Out of curioustity what is your pc needs? Gaming? Design? Video? Depending on what you want your pc to do you could use a few touchups. Like I am not seeing water cooling or any extra case fans. You never want a hot box. Get some arctic cool CPU Gel. May want to get double the ram. Also where did you buy these parts? did they come new? like does the CPU come with heatsink and fan?

Well on the list you see i'm getting 2GB of RAM, Isn't that enough?

And my needs well, I can say just about everything. I have plans on making a website to help out my dads jewelry business with the new comp, maybe play a few online games, using it for hw and the rest should be normal web surfing use.

Oh and also I will buy a few extra case fans would that be enough for cooling?

One more question, So if I get a DVD Burner, can that be used to both burn dvds and cds, and use it as a cd rom drive to install programs etc.?

    How about monitor?

RAM is really cheap nowadays. Better for you to purchase 4GB rather than just 2GB.

I mean 2 is fine but I'm running on a quad core with 4GB ddr2 ram. If you intend on running the CS3 programs Ftp client and 10-11 windows in FF and a few Messaging programs and be able to run smooth and never lag you should always try to stay up with the latest parts. Like here is what my screen looks like.[IMG]

I switched my dvd rom from pioneer to this :

SAMSUNG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model SH-S223Q/BEBN - OEM

The other one i guess wasn't compatible with win xp. I hate vista.

Use Xp let vista wait another year or so. And that is the exact drive I use. SATA cables are alot better for your PC and you can SATA connect your 360 to your HD

thanks for all your help guys!

sry for all the questions, do you think the cooling will be fine? How many more fans would I need or do I need more then just fans? Because by reading stuff on my new vid card i've heard it gets really hot. What should i get to cool that down?

wow this is all going to cost me around 1k. lol I'm probably going to go to frys tomorrow and buy all these parts and start building.

And these parts will be perfect for a little gaming, maintaining websites, school, and normal web surfing use right?

Well Get a video card with a fan built in they have alot of those. And get atleast 1 side case fan that you yourself can install on the side panel. I have 3 on the side and one on the top and my power supply has dual fans.

So the first thing I ask anyone building a new computer, what are you going to use it for? The components that you have listed here will make for a decent gaming machine, although I would recommend looking at the Intel Core 2 Duo/Quad processors as they are significantly faster than the comparably priced AMD solutions. Additionally, RAM is cheap and you can't go wrong with more RAM.

Looking at your selections it looks like you are thinking about goint with SLI in the future, but for the most part it isn't really worth the added cost.

You might want to consider larger and/or faster hard drives as well. Big drives are cheap, and fast drives help when dealing with big files and streaming data.

oh ok cool. I'll do that! So just a few extra fans should do the trick with the fanned vid card right?

Thanks for all your help Kangbroke!

Well my use for it was stated above. It's just for maintaining maybe a couple websites, some gaming, school, and normal web surfing use.

And the Intel, I would love to go with intel but it was much more costly. I want to definetly keep the whole price of this less then 1k. And about the SLI ya i'll take your advice on that I don't even no what SLI is lol

Yep No prob at all. Just make sure you know how to put it together or get someone too. Nothing is more disappointing to a guy than hooking a pc up and frying it from a small mistake. Most warranty's dont cover self install mistakes.
