Hey all, I'm looking to make the jump and dive into affiliate marketing. I've been a long time lurker here on DP, and have learned some valuable information such as different SEO techniques and such, which have helped me in promoting my existing websites extensively. I've read a number of posts here, on different networks and such, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to start. I'm a member of CJ. I also recently joined MoreNiche after reading about how they help you along, but unfortunately I didn't find their site very helpful. (an example would be it says setup Adwords PPC. But my question is I need to know how!) So with that said, I'm still trying to understand the basic jist of affiliate marketing. So far what I have is this: 1. Sign-up, and find a campaign, let's take a CJ product ($1 for every trial download of some spam filter program) 2. Setup a landing page, describing how great the product is, including the affiliate link, and host it somewhere. 3. Create Adwords campaign, targeting specific keywords, and have it point to your landing page. 4. Profit Sounds like once you get it down, you just expand and repeat for more products, thus producing more income. Does this formula sound right? I read posts on here of people making over $20,000 a month. Heck, I'd even be happy with $1,000 a month! (or even a few hundred for that matter) Does anyone have any tips for a n00b? All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josh
I would say MoreNiche is really great for beginners and I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to start with affiliate marketing. I think that you didn't spend enough time to explore their site, read all the guides and visit the forum. The help newbies a lot. They helped me start 8 Months ago and now I have several websites to promote them and make regular sales. What I like is the high commissions they pay me on time. About CJ - I don't think it's good for beginners - of course you see a lot of products to promote there, but....there is NO info on how to build your site and how to actually promote it - just links and banners. This is OK for experienced affiliate marketers, but not for beginners I think. Just my $0.02
Check out this link http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1209504 If you're doing anything dealing with Adsense or affiliate marketing, my keyword lists should be able to help you out!
What you describe is just one technique for affiliate marketing I use blogs. I use adsense. I have affiliate ads on the side bars. And I also write reviews of products and include the affiliate link in my post. If you'd like to see what I so..here is an example: http://www.travelsnippetsandmore.com/2008/06/book-review-1000-places-to-see-before.html
I think I read somewhere that using landing pages to sell sell products was against CJs TOS or Adwords TOS or something like that. Can anyone clarify?
you've got the general order down but you need to expand your knowledge like 100000% before you actually go any further. I would recommend you start by going beyond dp and reading some of the affiliate blogs out there - many of them have great "n00b guides" to getting started. If you don't want to lose $1000's, get frustrated and quit after your first month, do some more research before you try anything.
um, how else would you drive traffic to offers (most of which don't allow you to direct-link) if you didn't use some kind of landing page?!
Let me ask you - do you know how to use AdWords? Do you know what is targeted traffic? Do you know about various levels of targeting, do you know how to build good landing page etc. Do you know that most likely you will lose money in the beginning with PPC anyways.
