I have a blog using Wordpress. I want to put up some .pdf files for people to download but with user/password protections. I want put them up in another directory (www.myblog.com/downloads). I did some research and found out I have to create a htaccess file. Is there a plugin or script in wordpress that can do this? If not how do I go about doing this? I apologize if this is not Wordpress related but would like to get some help in doing this.

I do have cpanel. Do I create a folder and upload the pdf files? After that password protect it using cpanel. I am a total newbie and need some type of step by step tutorial. Please be patient.

Using your ftp client, create a new folder called psds or whatever is suitable for your site. In the example below, I have used the folder, include.

    Log into cpanel.
