Help! Lots of porn spammers!

In the last 3 days I have had 5 porn spammers sign up on my forum. Luckily, only two have posted and it was AWFUL stuff. It is especially bad because this forum is supposed to be for younger people...

Is there anything I can do about this? I have phpBB but I've heard a lot of negative comments about it so I'm thinking about switching to something else. I don't have the money for vBulletin unfortunately.

If you have any suggestions please tell me...

Well, have you tried to implement any of the phpbb mods?

 

install a verify image to confirm the Registration
Or turn on the E-mail confirmation

this kind of posts submit different softwares...
so i suggest you to install Anti-dDos (scripts) on your forum dir

 

Stay way from PHPBB. I saw that your forum i new and without posts. Delete it and install SMF or MyBB.

With SMF or MyBB you will have the features of vB, but for free.

 

I agree with olti, but if you do use phpBB, install the improved CAPTCHA mod, it helps prevent bots from registering.

 

Okay. I think that I'll try SMF or MyBB instead. Is there an easy way to transfer posts and members to either one of those from phpBB? Granted, I don't have hardly any posts or members but it might save a little hassle for those that are registered...

 

I'm not sure about MyBB, but SMF has a converter available on their website.

smf will work if you cant afford vbulletin.

This is something you cannot stop.

I have many forums, yet I get tons of spammers everyday.

95% of them were awaiting registration as they didn't used valid email address, so I deleted them all

 

Please let's not get into a "this script sucks" thread. I own all 5 "famous" scrips and have porn spam in all of them. paying 150-160 USD for a script won't save you from this crap.

Look for some anti-spam threads in phpBB.com .. http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=393503 .. here's a thread. Install inactive users, mass delete users and some others mentioned.

The fact you have spam doesn't mean the script is bad, you just didn't tweak it.
