Hey guys, I need help. Here's the story. I submitted one of my posts to digg (a .blogspot.com blog). A digg member by the name of socket (tell me to take it down if I shouldn't put it up) began to spam my blog because he hates gadget blogs. Fine have an opinion but don't spam my blog. He then has the guts to set up a .blogspot.com blog and answer with it (I limited the comments to blogger users only). So I commented on his blog about how stupid he was. I was really direct and firm. He then pretends to not know what the hell I'm talking about. So I told him I had his IP linked to 5 spam comments. He then takes down the blog (which I flagged) and I never heard from him. I knew it was the same guy from his IP address. So I had to close all commenting on the old blog. I set up my site at gazotto.com and I made sure that all comments had to be moderated. Then I blocked his IP. He then entered from another IP. So I blocked it. Then he entered from a proxy. Blocked that. He leaves messages and his signature, "about as cute as a wet fart". Anyways he's claimed that my Cpanel is insecure. Nothings messed up, but I don't know if he's just scaring me or has hacked into this. How do I stop this flippin moron? Skinny
Moderate comments, that way they'll never show up. Or drop a cookie on his box so you deny him that way (regardless of IP) though he probably has that covered. You can contact his ISP as well, spamming is illegal. But probably best is to ignore him, he'll go away eventually.
if IP = one of his own IP's or comment content includes 'the fart comment' then setcookie() that identifies him. PHP or equivalent knowledge required.
Sorry I don't have that. I understand code but don't know what your talking about. Is this hard to do? Can you give me a step by step process - if not too hard? Skinny
I can but I don't have the time nor the will. If you don't know PHP or whichever scripting language is appropriate for your setup, it's no use me writing the script for you here. And like I said, he's probably advanced enough to block your cookies...
You could also ask your hosting company to ban the IP for a little while and see if that keeps him out. Though he may just reset his modem but it sounds like a childish activity that would probably stop if you made it hard for him to post. Moderating is the best option as was mentioned above.
Okay thanks. And yes all commments are moderated !!! Once he got through the first time I will never let comments just be put up. Skinny
