Help in understanding Google Ad Manager?

I'm very new to the online advertising business and I was wondering if someone could help explain to me a specific part of Google Ad Manger that I'm confused about.

My Question is: Google Ad Manager says it allows you to set campaigns up in such a way that say on one page of my website I could sell spots only to advertisors looking for people between the ages of 18-24, living in texas, and looking for electronics. I'm confused on how this works. I know that google has deals with "certified third party ad networks"... So does this mean if I enter the demographic and other information for the particular ad spots I'm looking to sell that google will automatically post them to these ad networks where different advertisors can bid on them?

If this is the case then when an advertisor says "I want to buy that ad spots from his campaign so I'll pay him $1 cpm" then what happens next. Does he just click a few buttoms and his ads are automatically shown on my page. Or do I have to see that he wants to show ads on my page then enter his particular code manually into my website to show his advertisement?

I know that eventually code has to be entered somewhere but is it entered in the beginning of the entire process when your setting up the campaigns and then google allocates the ads to your site for you, or do you have to enter a new code everytime a new advertisor wants to advertise on your site?

I hope that wasn't to confusing any help is much appreciated, I don't quite understand how this works.

    Thanks,
    Chase Brumfield

yes this is really easy to do, when your starting a new campaign there are some blue text links that expand, these are your settings for demographics and age - this is where you can fine tune you ads to only reach people between the ages of 18-24, living in texas, and looking for electronics.

So after I create the campagin then when an advertisor accepts my campagin offer does it notify me via google ad manager...at which point I then upload the creative via code to my site?....or does google just automatically place the ad in my site via the privious code I have entered earlier on in the process of setting up google ad manager

    thanks,
