hi, i found some website who had a very similar topic like one of my sites, but the site is gone now ("server not found"), so i would like to get this domain. bad thing is that i cant contact the owner to buy this domain because i only found a name@expireddomain, so no way to contact him. i get this for the domain: Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD Updated Date: 25-aug-2006 Creation Date: 14-jul-2005 Expiration Date: 14-jul-2006 what exactly does this status mean? will it be available again?
You can either pay for a backdrop service trying to grab it as soon as it would be released, or you can follow up the status of the domain name and try to grab it yourself. After renewal failure, domains fall into redemption status for about 40 days and later a 10 days deletion period. Every registrar service have their own policies on this subject, and it may take from 40 to 60 days counting from the date when the domain expired.
It becomes available for registration about 75-80 days after the actual expiration date if everything moves forward in a timely manner. If you really want it, do a back order with GoDaddy or the place it was registered. That way you will at least get a chance to bid on if it if more than one person back-orders it. At GoDaddy if you don't get it you can apply the back-order fee to another domain try. You don't lose your $19. I got kycasinos.com on a back-order. Now if they would just pass the legislation. The actual owner can still redeem it with a substantial penalty until 9/14/06.
After Redemption Period, it will goto the Pending Delete status. When it reaches this stage it will drop after 5 days. GD catch shitall, the big players are Enom/Pool/Snap Names.
Even when DNS changes are fast, you are right. I have been facing a few problems with DNS recently, refusing to accept some nameservers or update current settings These problems began when they switched to the new layout.
This is pretty old so I'm not sure if its still relevent but http://www.mikeindustries.com/blog/archive/2005/03/how-to-snatch-an-expiring-domain
Looking into it, seems they are just another GD. If it's a worthwhile domain, you can bet they won't get it.
It may interest you guys to know that some registrars are registering every .com domain name that's about to become available. Hand-regging it is very, very rare.
if that name is valuable then get ready for the auction...I don't recommend using backorders because it will place bid on that domain, and will attract unwanted attention to the domain. I personally wait till 1 minute to the end of auction and then bid.
For TDNAM are you referring to? With the other catchers you have to place a backorder to grab the name.
