There was a guy who designed a website for me and he asked for more $$$$ and more$$$, and everytime my customers emailed me, he had a copy. I told him that I couldn't let him to know the email because sometimes there was private information in it. He got angry about it and he deleted all the website and keeping attack it. Okay, the website has gone and it made me don't trust any website designer. So I began to build the website by myself. And to prevent further trouble, I changed my company's name and the domain name. God knows that how much time I worked on my website-from a website idot.
It happened to me 3 months ago.

I thought this guy already forgot it. But today, he used online phone to call me and he said that I have to delete my website and my work, because I copied from him! If I dont delete, he will do the same thing as before. I never thought that a human can be like this!! How much effort I made to built the website? How much effort I am trying to do the SEO thing? He cannot destroy all my effort like it. So I call the police today.

    __________
Anyone knows that how to prevent it? I have to keeping change the hosting ?

huh? he knows the password of your webhosting? Just get a reliable webhost, make sure you have no trojans on your computer, and forget abt his threats. so long you aren't infringe any copyrights.

Make your site very secure and if needed, take the help of an expert who can help your site become hacker proof! Also inform your host of the possible attack so that they can secure your account with added security and always take back ups at regular intervals! :)

I agree, police has nothing to do with web or copyright stuff. It looks like there's some information that you didnt provide. Because first of all, did you pay him for the design or website? if so the content is yours legally and you can sue him for that, not the other way around. Also as a rule of thumb, you never give your web designer complete control over your web server or hosting account. You have to give them a temporary ftp access just to upload the site when it's finished, then you can terminate their access. If you are on a secure server with a reliable web host, he cannot hack into your site and read emails.

This is sooooo newbie....I could've solved this since I was 10 yrs old.
    Change your host,
Add firewall and secure your server,
    Block his ip

There's absolutely no need to change your company name and all that stuff.

For the first website(I bought the domain and everything) which he built for me, he told me to give him cash (without receipt-I was stupid ).So I dont want to mention it anymore. And he used DDOS to attack it. Ok, find, I changed to a new domain and everything. I called many hosting companies to ask about the DDOS thing, and they said that they cannot prevent it .

3 months later, he called me again to thread me. This young guy has nothing to do, man!

He wanted to know everything about the website, he even made copy of my emails that were from customers. I told him this is not good for my company, which made him angry and did these things to me--I don't understand this guy.
This bad experience makes me don't want to trust ppl.

About this guy, i met him at my old job, they fired him in a week, i was so stupid to call him asking him for help when i first started my company, after i paid him for the website he tried to ask for more money for jobs i didnt tell him to do, he got angry and doesn't want to admit that he received money from me, deleted my website and asked for $6000 for the backup, i said you keep it so then i put up a vey simply website to keep it alive, then he ask for his friends to DDOS my site making the hosting company don't want to host my site anymore, i guess i am lucky enough have met a guy like this, after all this trouble i decided to change the name of the website and company but 3 months later this guys calls me saying that i used words from him, the website that i have now is built from scratch, i dont know, but i already reported to the police about this, saved msn conversation and recorded the last phone call he made. but i cant let all my effort and business go down becase of somebody that has a lot of free time.

ANY ADVISE GUYS? THANKS TO EVERYONE!

you can go legal if u did everything officially mean an agreement? where did this guy live? looks like you outsourced this project to him? dont be worry if your hosting is secure and your login info is also safe then there is no problem.

    Hi,

Do you have reciepts of the payments you made to him for his work? If you do then he cannot claim you have 'stole' his work because you have made payment for it.

I think you should provide us some information about the guy to help people stop getting ripped off in the future!

Do you know any websites he owns...... just out of interest :)
