I can't seem to get my site (http://www.cashgamers.net) validated for a certain directory script that the majority of users here are running. Upon trying to add my site, I've been getting "The URL could not be validated. Either the page does not exist or the server cound not be contacted." as an error. My site is 100% up and has been around for more than a month...any solutions to this?
Have you tried removing the end / would putting in www make a difference? im guessing this is when your providing a reciprocal back to them.
I just pinged it for your site ping cashgamers.net and the IP 74.52.106.2 came up. But when pasting that IP into a browser which showed wild results most of them pointing to waste of space parked advertising domains,. type in your IP which is 74.52.106.2 into your browser and see what I mean. What this is telling me is that your on a shared IP with a load of other sites, bad quality ones at that. Not sure if your mean the phpld script but assuming so. Possibly asking the people over there might shed some light on the subject. Good luck and let us know if you have success and what the cause was if it isn't the IP problem.
Yep, I'm on a shared IP with other sites, that's probably it. Good detective work, I'll give you reps for that! Time to see if my host can do anything...
nothing wrong with having the site in a shared ip. your http://www.cashgamers.net/ uses a 301 redirect to http://cashgamers.net/ try submitting http://cashgamers.net/ instead.
Rule of thumb its usually okay if the IP is shared, not the best thing to do but not the worst. The fact that this IP is randomly resolving though DOES make a difference and certainly merits investigation by the OP. What you fail to notice mhamdi, is that while the OP site is fine there is a thing called guilt by association, and if there are some bad sites out there (and there looks as if there are) allocated to this IP then it certainly could be the case an innocent party could become the victim of a banned sites IP sharing.
you think that directory scripts check if the site is banned? and banned by who? most of the sites in the internet are hosted on shared ips. if you host a large number of sites in the same ip and there is interlinking between them, the search engines will not like it. other than that you should be fine. check what the google guys said The scripts check the http headers of the website, it should be 200 OK for an active website, it is 301 Permanent redirect in this case.
Your missing the main point here, what if a spammer on this IP has used some rubbish automated software and got banned by a million directories, it is possible you know.
