I'm a bit lost here...looking for my site in Google. When I run site:www.pittsburghsportslive.com I see 3360 results in Google. But I can't find the site in SERP. I'm using a DNS alias to point my domain name to another site. Was this a mistake? When I create the site a few weeks back, within days it was on Page 24 for "Pittsburgh Steelers". Then it steadily moved up each day, ending on page 14. Now it seems to be lost for that key word, which is my main focus.. Any clues as to what is happening and how I can fix it?
I just did a Google search for Pittsburg Steelers and found your site at position 788. This shows that it is still in the index, and is probably just suffering from a temporary "rankings glitch". So wait a few days and it could recover to its previous ranking.
well your site is new (only a few weeks old) and fluctuating rankings is something that happens with new sites
Google rankings fluctuate wildly even within a day. It is normal to see ranking changes over a period of time. However, if you continue to build solid links, your rankings will be stablized. Google pays a lot attention to keywords in your title tags. Make sure you select the right keywords with the right number for pages of your site. Avoid repeating the same keywords for every page.
Yes, Google rankings fluctuate wildly even within a day. But from what i did for my site, the keywords desired embedded in meta title, description and not more than two times repeating in a single page. Plus you must have a steady stream of traffic like my site with 8-10K hits a day. NOTE i build this into a pr3 over 6 months trying and testing every possible SEO technique and stop at the above.
Building back link is just to get votes to increase your pr. Getting your site index and maintaining is the crux. You can be fully seo optimize for search but if there is no steady stream of traffic, why should SE put your page up on their first page and giving you extra traffic. Think of it this way, you build a page and do minimal advertising getting in about less than 1k traffic a day. On the other hand a site with more than 10K hits a day and getting new traffic or viewer-ship daily. Ask yourself truthfully, if you do a search, you want to get relevant results right. You will want to visit a site where others are constantly visiting or a new site?
