I am about setting up an Affiliate program. As far as I know, I should write letters to my affiliates on a regular basis. How, when and what should be in those letters?
In my opinion, as an affiliate of many companies, the less email i recieve from them the better, some companies send them every week and i just delete them without reading. Others only send letters when they actually have some important news, these i read....They send them maybe once a month maximum, with announcements and important changes and things. Dont send more than one a month or it'l just piss off your affiliates and they'l just hit delete without reading. If you are talking about hard copy letters, iv been an affiliate marketeer for years now and the only mail Iv ever recieved are cheques. Just my opinion but surely im in the market you are aiming at. I agree. It is a myth that you should continuously stay in contact with the affiliates. They do not feel cared for because of that. Webmasters like to feel independant and not as if someone is constantly keeping an eye on them. When I was just preparing to launch the program, i did reading a lot and I also came across many articles saying 'Top Affiliate Managers should have newsletters and educate their affiliates...' I do not think this is what many webmasters are looking for. Sincerely, Ann
