Help: How To Share Files Between Two Computers

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by DarkCity, Jul 18, 2009.

    Hey Friends,

    So I'm on my laptop at the moment, and I need to transfer a bunch of large files
    from here (laptop) to my PC.

    I'm not exactly sure how to do this, I have a spare Hub as well as a Router,
    so without internet, would I be able to set up a LAN connection?
    Would that actually work, in terms of sharing files between computers, without
    internet access?

    Not sure how to set up a LAN connection, so if anyone has any insight, please
    let me know.

    Thanks.

    You can share files between two and more computers through networking.

    Create a new connection if you cant see the Network Connections this is if you're using the hub.
    but usually your router have four ports so you just need to plug those cat5 to the router and eventually they'll meet. just create a shared folder to transfer the files.

    Also check your firewall settings if using zonealarm. With the free ed. it is still quirky when using the 'trusted zone'.

    you can do it... i tried it a long before. use a Ethernet cord to connect both the computers thats it. just ping in cmd prompt to verify whether its connected or not.
    use a software name "ipmessenger" its a free ware no need of installations portable version also available.
    open ipmessenger in both the system if your LAN is established you can transfer your files by just drag n drop.Transfer speed also very good. give it a try :)
