I have a loads of movies which is in avi file extensions , which i have downloaded from the net, These are encoded in Xvid & Divx formats avi files almost all movies are approx 700MB in size..

Now, I want to burn these files to a cd to watch in my VCD player..
    my question is:
Can i burn using nero by simply creating new video cd task> and adding .avi files to it> & let nero can encode it and burn..? In this case i feel there will be some video quality loss? is it right? or can i use this procedure to burn cd's & watch it in my television? !

Or should i need to use any other softwares to convert those avi files to other formats like .dat or something else & then burn to cd using nero..?

Plz suggest me to do all the necessary things, so that i can watch the downloaded movies within my Tv set itself.. Main thing is, video quality should not get lose..

You will need to convert you avis to VCD/SVCD. TMPGEnc is a good place to start. Or you could just save yourself a crap load of trouble and buy a DVD player that supports DivX. Or save yourself even more trouble, by getting a video card with TV out and running a cable to your TV. Then you can just burn data DVDs containing avis, mpgs, whatever... and play them from your PC.

You'll probably find what you need at Afterdawn.

    Welcome to DP btw :)

infact i have a divx compatible dvd player... I'll travel far.. next week.. so i can easily carry my small vcd player with me to get entertained at times when i need..

So VCD is my preferred format right now..
