    Hello,

My name is Andrew and I was asked to help with a small project for a non-profit. Basically what they want is something similar to “The Million Dollar Home Page” as for as functionality goes I suppose. I know basic HTML so I am not sure if I will be able to assist them with this as it may be above my head. They want to keep the costs down so they would prefer not to have to hirer a web designer. There is no real timeline but they would like it to be active by Jan.1/2009 at the latest. These are my main questions and we would love any help or opinions. This site will be directed at existing contributors that we have but if we can create new ones that would be great as well.

The design will be a circle (circle of life) where like the “Million Dollar Home Page” you can buy pixels. The issue I am foreseeing is with implementing this. We need to make this as automated as possible, working similar to lets say ticket master. You pick what you want, it’s reserved for X amount of time and once that time is up it becomes available again. Then you can go to check out to purchase it.

The issue we may run into is how can they select an area that’s rounded? Sure a square page would make sense for buying a block of pixels but a circle may be tough.

Payment, we are going to use PayPal business but we have read there can be issues with them freezing your account if there is a dispute for some reason. This is something we really can’t have. So we may need to look at an alternate payment method.

I know I am asking for a lot but again any help with code or just overall opinions would be great.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

They have free scripts that you can use.

I believe hotscripts.com has one. Just do a google search.

For the square/circle problem I would suggest you make a cirlce out of blocks.
