I would like to purchase backlinks from this one site - place our RSS feed (5 lines) on the homepage. The guy is asking how much would I pay for that...but I am not sure... The site is PR4, with alexa ranking of 1,056,542, traffic is on a decline (less 7% in 3 months). Alexa ranking in own country 12,215. Sorry, I prefer not to reveal the url for obvious reasons..I don't have stats yet regarding unique visitors etc. Thanks for your help!
Why not offer to write some regular content for them instead? Content for links is a great way to get links without handing over any cash. Say - one unique article per month?
Well in a way our RSS news feed is providing some content...but article won't cut it because first, they are line an online shop, deep content like articles is not in their content strategy. And, second, if you think about it, they are providing me with 5 links on the homepage for 1 year, plus my article would be an added promo for me, it's too one sided...what are they getting in return? It's not a balanced exchange.
alexa ranking of 1,056,542 - It should not be having much unique pageviews. I agree with the guy above me. Why dont you try something else like social bookmarking or directory submission or may be even a comment on relevant blog
What is the value that you are looking to get out of purchasing the link? You should do your research - ask for traffic proof from the owner of the site, and then also do your homework with backlink checking. With all of that info, then you can make an educated decision on how much money you think it is worth.
THe only reason you ask for this guy is the page rank. If he willing to give you dofollow sidewide backlink then it is worth. If not, ignore it. The rate will be $10/year. This is my opinion.
JUst give them $5. the Alexa is so low why are you going to pay them high when they are just getting a few readers?
thanks for all the advice. It's not that I don't do other things- social bookmarking, commenting on forums, blogs. But for page rank, some sites are worth it to pay them for permanent link. I don't think it's 'vulgar' to do that, I prefer that then to place reciprocal links on my site- there is only so much space. Plus for some site owners this is helpful to pay for some of the cost of running the site. Also, sorry for the stupid question but what is 'dofollow'? Forgot to mention, I have asked the guy to see some traffic stats...no reply yet. Hmm..
Found a good description online, but can't remember where. I think, and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, basically a dofollow is the opposite of a nofollow. It tells you that there isn't a nofollow - spiders will hit that link regardless of whether there is a dofollow or no nofollow.
'nofollow' links are not counted when google evaluates pageranks. A link off a PR4 page doesn't shed any rank in your direction when it is set to 'nofollow'. If you buy links for google rank (which is eeeevul) , 'nofollow' links are worthless in pr-terms.
