    Hi,

I am planning to launch my article directory next week.

Would you guys give me some idea on how to promote my directory?

Should I use PLR articles for my directory at the beginning?

    Your help is always appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I think really the main thing you should focus on is your pagerank. That is one of the deciding factors that most people use when submitting to article directories because it is all about SEO. As well make sure your directory is visually appealing. I think that so many just look spammy and that makes me not want to submit my articles there because I don't trust websites that don't look halfway decent. I think DP and other webmaster forums are going to be your best bet in getting the word out as well contact some influential bloggers etc and get a few paid posts and you will be taking off in no time. I would wait until your PR is up before you do the paid posts though.

Well, i think using PLR articles would be harmful. If those aren't unique contents, you're just gonna get screwed by google. maybe you should do a cheap ppc campaign for people to use your article directory? after you have a decent amount of articles in your directory you can then stop the ppc campaign and focus on SEO. I agree with Primeelite, because PR is what will attract potential posters to your directory. For example, I have one of my staff use an article submitter that's optimised to post only to high PR directories, and I'm sure many people do something similar.

Can you offer people an incentive if they post an article to get things going? Perhaps a digital freebie?

Thanks for your replies. I really appreciate.

@primeelite: I think you are right, I will focus on PR and try to get as high as possible in the next google update.

@cabalist: I think people will not submit their fresh content to new article directory that's why I considering to use PLR since people will not submit unique content :(.

@tuksdrr: could you suggest me some digital freebie which I can offer to them?

You can offer anything as long as it offer value to your visitors and subscribers

    Some examples

    "How To Rewrite PLR Articles"
    "Top Mistakes of Article Marketing"
    and so on

And for this you can use PLR ebooks.. There is no problem in offering a PLR ebook to your subscribers...

    Hope that helps

Social media is the best initial thing but do make a strategy before getting in the SM other wise back fire will kill your directory.
