    Hi guys,

    sorry for the hassle,
but this is the most interesting problem i have ever encountered,

i bet some of you haven't even heard of such problem~!!!

    ok here goes the story,
sometime ago i bought a hosting plan with Melonez.com,

and as usual they'd give me a temporary ftp ip address to upload my files,
so i did the problem is here:

i try to UPLOAD a "Folder" (10mb total)
full of 1000++ "files" (e.g. .html pages / .php pages),

but after the 800++ files got transfered,
    the remaining "Files" disappear,

although the ftp client says it was "successfully" transfered,
but i got nothing, i see "Nothing",

so i open up a NEW "Folder",
to test if my "Files" were Corrupted and even created new Simple .html "Files",

To Upload to the NEW "Folder",
    It Went Through,

There Seems to be a Apache or Limitation to how many Files i can have in a Folder~
    is this common??

I mean i'm currently using "Godaddy.com"s hosting (The Cheapest :D)
    and they're working FINE~!!!

After switching to a New Hosting (More Expensive),
    and it is even worse~???

    Why is This So???

NOW, i just purchased another hosting plan from "Wrzhost.com",
and they'd Also Encountered the SAME PROBLEM~???

Is it because there's a Limitation to how MANY Files i can have in a "Folder"
or is there something i didn't do Right???

it's possible your host has limitations on file size, one of my friends is with 1&1 and they have very small ftp limits from what i understand.

Some FTP daemons have a limit on the number of files they list in a directory. You should contact your host to see if that is the issue.

i have contacted the host and they say they don't know what's going on,
and they need some time to figure it out....

i mean this is a very trivial matter....
considering it is only BASIC files that i'm uploading not some AVI or WMV files that won't play~~

WiredTree Zac is right, most FTP aemons limit the number of files they show. There may also be limits on how many files get lsited per directory in general. The files are there, just not shown in directory listings.

You can try to execute a raw command through your ftp client.

    ListOptions -a maxfiles 10000

Avoid denial-of-service attacks by limiting the number of displayed files in a 'ls' and the maximum depth of a recursive 'ls'. Defaults are 2000:5 (2000 files displayed for a single 'ls' and walk through 5 subdirectories max).

    i'm using 2 computers,
    one from my home,

    one from my company,
and both can't view the files,

Using "FileZilla" / "FlashXP" / "SmartFTP"

If it is a FTP Daemon issue, that means it is server-side. Godaddy can have different server-side settings than your new host. That means that you aren't going to be able to fix it by using a different FTP client - your host is going to have to fix it.

ya, that was what i was thinking,
but i know they're doing whatever they can to help,

    it only needs time,
as i think they are a quite new company,

and has never had a client with more than 2k files in a folder.......
