Help! Google is not crawling my site for last 10 days

Discussion in 'Google' started by theredgiant, Jul 23, 2008.

On my webmaster tools' panel is the message

Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Jul 13, 2008.

I resubmitted my sitemap and it was downloaded within minutes. But still google is not crawling my site. Google has also been downloading sitemap almost daily, but the posts are not getting indexed. I update my site regularly.

    Please help me.

Not sure if you should worry about this yet. The date that google 'last accessed your home page' seems to lag. It will stay the same date for a week then suddenly update to a day a few days previous to the current date

I don't want to get stuck. I have read about people whose sites weren't crawled for month!! OMG!
The date is alright, because I checked the cached version and it's of July 13. Google knows there are unindexed URLs on my sitemap but still they aren't crawling. why?

There is no guarantee when google will index your site. I have some pages that haven't been cached for about 6 weeks whilst others seem to be read every 3-4 days.

Improving the backlinks certainly increases the likelihood google will index your site but sometimes you just have to wait for the googletrain to arrive.

    I have the same experience.

But theredgiant, you can use the old "blog & ping". Make a blogger blog with some content, post your link in it (you can skip this if your blog is already on blogger :p). Then use pingomatic (with your blogger blog address in it) once every couple of hours.

    Voilá.

    you should try this

you need back links from the sites that are Fast Crawl websites.

you need back links to your main as well as inside the site pages.

you need inside pages linked to your main site page.

    hope this may help.

I'm getting backlinks at a fair rate. Not sure if there were any during the last 10 days though.
All my inside pages have the "home" link.

I don't know what's happeneing. I used to get indexed within a day. This is starting to worry me. Can I mail google? Is there any contact address for webmaster problems?

Ping more, at least 2 or 3 times a day.

i think u have taken the Change frequency in your sitemap monthly or yearly that's why it is happening i think you have to change it with weekly or daily if you got your content updated like that. by Change frequency google tends to index your website at that time not always.

I never worry about the message that is displayed on the front page. For me, it updates very late. Some times, even after 10+ days, however, I still see google bot crawling my site all the time.

Probably, the googlebot is crawling your site, but the data in google webmaster tools will update after some time.

My site was last indexed a little over 10 days ago. I think the majority of that is my fault. I used to update the site twice a week and recently, because of other deadlines, I had not updated the site in over 30 days. I think that drop in new content hurt my Google indexing.

My blogs, on the other hand, I continue to update regularly.

Ahh.. atlast google crawled my site. What a relief! This had never happened to me before, so I was worried. And regarding frequency of update, I post almost daily. I have atleast 5-7 new articles every week.

I wouldn't worry. But if you want to speed up the process upload a sitemap and create a google webmaster tools account. You can then upload your sitemap to google directly and your site should get crawled more quickly.
