HI, I am trying to build a few smallish websites maybe 10-20 pages, I am looking to micro niche markets or long tail keywords .I had a few ideas for keywords, but they look too competitive. I have been reading digital point, You could read forever!! I am looking at good enough traffic for phrases or longer keywords. so I used Micro niche finder, google adwords and SEO quake. for example ie "water company goggles" everything looked good, good enough traffic, pay per click ok. not too many searches, but the top 5 searches are for the keyword are www.amazon.com, wiggle.co.uk etc. all big companies with alot of domain links etc. I can get the exact phrase on .com. When looking at the likes of SEOQUAKE is it the incoming & and outgoing links for that phrase that you have to look out for? Can I compete with a big company on a site with one keyword like www.water company goggles.com confused as hell!!!
A guy who's currently coaching me about keywords gave me a good example. You can have a keyword that gets search 5,000 times per month and 20 keywords that get 250 searches a month but you still get the same results. Ex: learn to play guitar vs play guitar today. One gets 517,000 exact results + 2,900 searches per month while the other gets 16,500 + 480 searches per month. Now check to see if playguitartoday.com etc. is available and bam keyword rich domain name. Even better"play guitar today" already has a call to action. The point look for keywords that only have a couple hundred searches and put them all together. If your selling something for $20 and have five keywords with 400 searches each and only 5 people from each keyword converts that's still $500. Hope this helps you. : )
Nice point there. Try the freekeywords.wordtracker.com to know how many searches are there per month, and google it to know how many competitor there are, just see the search result. Prefer <100,000 results keyword, as pointed by Ash324
