ok i just purchased a vps and everything was fine created 2 accounts and was working on both sites (im a mutli tasker) then all of a sudden im blocked iv been unable to access ftp from my home network since! i still have lxadmin access and the websites show fine just can not connect via smartftp , filezilla or fireftp etc from my house I can connect to the FTP from other wifi networks other than my home network! so it looks like the server blocked my ip or something?! being i can still connect to my other ftp accounts on other servers from the same home network?! i have contacted the host an they can't figure it out? I assume it has to have something to do with my home internet / ip oR sumthing ?! any one have any solutions for this? Please? i need ftp access!
1. Are you able to change IP address on your home computer? If yes, try changing it and then try to ftp connect... it may do the trick. 2. Do you have ssh access to your account? If yes, try checking top -c and look for some stuck ftp process there. if there is, then that may be blocking you. You can kill some linux process via kill -9 processPID 3. Ask your hosting company to restart your ftp server? 4. Check your firewall and make sure that there isn't something on your end blocking you from accessing that specific ftp server.
hi thanks for the reply its does the same on both my laptop and desktop at home and im on my laptop now (at work) and connected to the ftp with no problem! so i dont think its my computers ip! but i dont know much about ips networking etc) i called my isp and requested a new ip (so i should be able to test tomorrow when the ip lease in renewed) dont know if that will fix it tho i can only hope! so i guess it could also be the hardware firewall on my linksys router but its only blocking me from one server?? as for a the ssh access im not sure this is my 1st vps and im new to lx admin! i know i have have a ssh config option in my admin panel? any help?
STILL NO LUCK can any one help me with this???PLEASE any clue what it could be? ftp is just blocking my home network?
Try running this as root SSH: iptables -A INPUT -s 11.22.33.44 -j ACCEPT Code (markup): Replace 11.22.33.44 with your IP address that you can't connect with. Jay
