Okay I need help setting up mybb. I just signed up for my first domain name and hosting through hostmonster.com. I downloaded mybb to my computer and then uploaded it into my account files. Now what?? How do I get this puppy running and how to I format it the way I want it? I’ve never done any of this before. I’m trying to do it myself so I can learn. I’m pulling my hair out here. What specifically do I need to do?

scrap mybb, and switch to phpbb - much better supported and quite easy to set up. Only thing is, make sure you can set up a mysql database with your host.

    Haven't used MyBB.
But take a look at the readme file.
Once you uploaded everything you should browse to the installer, which will create an admin acount, create the database tables and so on.
Most of the time it's something like http://yoursite.com/install.php or http://yoursite.com/install/

Once you installed it you can start using it.

Follow the ReadME, then it will tell you where the install.php is.
