I'm totally new to Wordpress... I just installed it less than 10 minutes ago and I'm already so lost. I'm just trying to make my them right now; I want it to look exactly the same as I had my Blogger theme laid out: http://www.e-lusively.com/blogger/index2.html.

I seem to be failing miserably. There are sidebars and everything, lol. Can anyone please help me? I also have aim and gtalk if you would like to help me out on there (if it would be easier).

    aim: brooke38901
    gtalk: missmuffin@gmail.com

Any help would be SO greatly appreciated!

I have figured out a bit of it... glad to know I'm not the only one stuck.. Here's what I've ended up with so far:
    e-lusively.com/wordpress

I can't get rid of those links and stuff... it's driving me nuts.

I can help in the transfer of blogger themes to WordPress. I do these services for a small fee though of around $40 depending on the complexity of the theme. You seem to be getting it under control though, so if you need any pointers or help, hit me up on aim or msn. You can find my screen names on this page on the right side of my post.

WordPress has an automatic feature which allows import of existing Blogger posts. The problem is getting the templates converted. Today, there are a lot of free custom themes for WordPress and most are quite good. To convert your existing blogger theme? I would get professional help-- unless you have a lot of time.

I have converted existing themes to WordPress. Let me know if I can help.

Oops :) opened two tabs and answered in the wrong one!

If you are just starting out with wordpress, I highly suggest that you download a blank theme and study how it works by changing things and checking what changed.

    http://www.refueled.net/blank-wordpress-themes/

The structure is a bit confusing at first glance, but works kind of like this:

    index.php - your main page
    page.php - a "page" inner template
single.php - a "show one post only" inner template
    archive.php - a "archive" inner template
    header.php - your header code
    footer.php - your footer code
    search.php - search function
searchform.php - the actual search form which is included anywhere in your site that you need it to be
sidebar.php - the sidebar, included where you need it

    that's it!

the easiest way to go about it is to create your template in html/css and then cut out the header and footer. the rest is pretty much your template for the inner pages (and your index if it isn't different).

if you have any questions, add me via my msn in my profile and i'll help out a bit.
